Public transportation in the Washington DC metropolitan area is extensive and expeditious. As parking is extremely limited
---parking is not available on the campus of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), and street parking is limited to two hours--- utilizing the Metro system, Metrobus and Metrorail, is the most convenient mode of transportation.

METRO STATION LOCATIONS (CONVENIENT TO WRAMC):
The Silver Spring Metro Station is located in downtown Silver Spring at the corner of Colesville Road (Rt. 29) and Second Street.
- The S2 Metrobus departs from the Silver Spring Metro Station and stops at Dahlia Street and Alaska Avenue ---the gate entrance to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Building. 54.
- The S4 Metrobus departs from the Silver Spring Metro Station and stops at 16th Street and Sherrill Drive ---directly across the street from the 16th Street gate entrance to WRAMC.
- The 70 And 71 Metrobuses depart from the Silver Spring Metro Station and stop at Georgia Avenue and Elder Street ---directly in front of the Georgia Avenue gate entrance to WRAMC.
Takoma Metro Station is approximately one mile east of the WRAMC campus, via Butternut Street, and is located at Cedar Street at Carroll Avenue NW in Washington, DC.
- The K1 Metrobus departs from the Takoma Metro Station and stops at numerous stops on the WRAMC campus. For building 53, get off at the National Museum of Health and Medicine stop. Facing the museum, walk to your right and make a left on 13th place. Building 53 is the first building on the right.
SHUTTLE SERVICE:
Shuttle services are provided by WRAMC. The shuttle runs between WRAMC, Forest Glen (throughout the complex) and Bethesda (U.S. National Naval Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
