AIRP GENERAL INFORMATION

Courses are conducted at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, MD.

Check-in the first day of the course begins at 7 a.m. Lectures begin promptly at 8 a.m. Lunch is from 12:15 – 1:00 p.m. Afternoon lectures begin at 1:00 p.m. and generally end between 4 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

DIRECTIONS

The AFI Silver Theatre is located at 8633 Colesville Road — at the intersection of Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue — in the heart of the new downtown Silver Spring, MD.

By Car: The AFI Silver Theatre is less than two miles south of Beltway exit 30 (Colesville Road) and exit 31 (Georgia Avenue). The theatre is also convenient to the Bethesda area via East-West Highway and a short drive from downtown Washington via 16th Street, NW. [map]

By Metro: The AFI Silver Theatre is just two blocks north of Metro’s Red Line station in Silver Spring. [website] [station map]

By Ride-On Bus: The Silver Spring Metro station is served by Ride-On routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, and 28. [website]

PARKING

Many public parking garages are available including.

Public garages offer free parking after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. Before
6 p.m. on weekdays, metered rates apply at 50 cents per hour.

The AFI Silver Theatre is also within walking distance to several public parking decks. The closest parking deck is 1.5 blocks from the theatre at Colesville Road and Spring Street. Public parking is also available at the Gateway Plaza after 6 p.m. (in front of the shopping center at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road).
